A message from the NZHA regarding the upcoming November 2021 conference:
Kia ora koutou,
Thank you to all those who have submitted papers, panels, and roundtables for the 2021 Conference. We were delighted to receive so many proposals, and hugely impressed by their diversity and richness.
Unfortunately, the latest Covid outbreak and its associated restrictions has brought the date and format of the Conference into question. The NZHA Executive have been meeting regularly to discuss this issue and have also sought the views of the NZHA Council. Following these discussions, we are delighted to say that the Conference will go ahead on the advertised dates – the Postgraduate Day on Tuesday 23 November, followed by a full programme of papers from Wednesday 24 November to Friday 26 November.
The question of format has proven more problematic. We understand that there isconsiderable desire for an ‘in person’ event, but also that this may not be possible at all, or to the extent originally planned. Given the present uncertainty and potential shifts in alert levels, we have decided to postpone a decision over the format of the Conference for the time being. We will continue to review the situation over the next few weeks and will communicate a decision as soon as it is made.
In the meantime, we advise all those planning to attend the Conference to delay their registration. Should an ‘in person’ event be possible, the early bird registration deadline will be extended beyond 1 October. If a switch to an online event does become necessary, the difference between any new registration cost and those fees already paid will be refunded.
We know that this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone. We would particularly like to acknowledge our Auckland members and to thank them for the sacrifices they are making for the rest of the country. Kia kaha.
Ngā mihi nui
The NZHA Executive
