In this Anzac-themed event, reflect on first-hand accounts from World War I, and weave together your own stories of this momentous period in Aotearoa’s history.

World War I: The individual and the moment

Hear curator Peter Ireland speak to some of the individuals and moments that have captured his attention from World War I diaries, letters, images or sometimes single phrases or words from our collections.

Watch For King & Country film footage

Reflect on your own World War I, II or other stories of conflict over tea, and then watch an excerpt from the World War I footage compilation For King & Country, curated by Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision.

Collection viewing and other activities

View a sample of World War I taonga, form new connections with people through reflecting and storytelling, and write a letter to your veteran ancestors or future generations with your reflections on conflict and war.
