Anthony Patete

I te taha o whaea, nō Ingarihi me Werehi ahau. Ko Anthony Gerald Pātete tōku ingoa.

Raised in Te Whanganui a Tara, I now live at Tai Tapu.

I began my adult working life at the Department of Lands and Survey, before later gaining degrees in NZ history and physical geography, and then working at (now called) Archives NZ until the early 1990s. Since then – aside from several stints overseas – I have been consulting on historical, policy (regulatory and strategic advice to Government agencies on Te Tiriti issues, Māori, whānau development, public health, youth suicide, notifiable diseases and biosecurity, to name a few), and governance (with Māori post-settlement governance entities in particular) matters.  Much of my historical work has focused on Te Tiriti settlements and, since the mid-2000s, takutai moana issues.
