An historian is sought for a Wellington oral history project. Details below:
The essence of the project is to interview an 87 year old (Mr Ridley-Smith’s father, who is in good mental health) to record his family stories and collate a family tree (using a commonly-used software programme – recommendations sought), with notes, recordings and documents attached to the relevant people in the tree. The job does not initially require independent research.
Mr Ridley-Smith’s father knows much of the information himself, or else holds it in family papers and other documents. The initial focus of the project will be to record what his father knows in a structured way, accessible to wider family members.
The work will be paid at a fair rate to be agreed upon application. It is anticipated the project would take about 30 to 40 hours, at a time to be agreed.
