Volume 3, Issue 2 (July 1997)

The lead article discusses the Department of Internal Affairs’ proposal to set up a Heritage grouping comprising National Archives, the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography, the Historical Branch, and the Heritage Property Unit (which administers war graves and monuments).

Two articles, by Anne Else and Anna Rogers, look at editing. Chris McLean and Adrienne Simpson investigate what is involved in publishing. Gavin McLean gives tips about writing reviews, and Tony Nightingale interviews Jack Perkins, producer and sometime presenter of National Radio’s Spectrum documentaries.

‘News and Notes’ and ‘PHANZA News’ each cover a range of topics, and there is special mention of Jessie Munro’s Montana Book Award for her 1996 book, The Story of Suzanne Aubert.
