In 1871, the Tauranga Library subscribers met for the first time at the Masonic Hotel. To celebrate 150 years, a special talk will be held on Wednesday 7 April from 12.45 – 2pm at the Ngā Wahi Rangahau Reserch Collections Level 1 Tauranga Library 91 Willow Street.
The talk will trace the library’s inception back to 1871 and ask:
• How has the library changed over the years?
• How has it served the community?
• What are some of the challenges it’s faced along the way?
These questions, and more, will be answered through an exploration of original material from the library’s archive.
