Stout Research Centre seminar (Wellington): Christine Lorre, ‘Locating Research in “Postcolonial Literature”: A Personal Account’

Stout Research Centre for NZ Studies Seminar

In this seminar I will reflect on what it means to study “postcolonial literature,” a convenient umbrella term that raises a number of questions. I will examine the meaning and relevance of the label in relation to my main objects of study—writing by women, by multicultural writers and by writers dealing with multiculturalism—and in relation to current research methodologies.

Christine Lorre is a senior lecturer at University Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris3 and is currently at the Stout Research Centre as visiting scholar (February-June 2017). She is co-organising a conference on “The Afterlives of the Bible: Cultural Influence and (Re)interpretations in New Zealand literature” on 29 June.

Date: Wednesday 21 June 2017

Time: 12.00 noon to 1.00pm
