Provide Feedback on National Library Removal and Disposal Policy

Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand is developing a new policy for removing and disposing of collection items. This will sit alongside other important policies that guide our collection management activities.

This new policy will inform how the National Library makes recommendations to the Minister of Internal Affairs about items to be removed from collections in the future and how they dispose of those items.

The policy will help ensure that decisions are made in line with collections management best practice and legislative requirements, support consistency and transparency, and guide how affected and interested parties can contribute to decision making.

The public engagement period for this policy will run for 6 weeks from 3 April 2023 to 12 May 2023.

There will be three online sessions introducing the draft policy, and inviting discussion:

Friday April 21, 10am – 11am.

Wednesday April 26, 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

Friday April 28, 12.30pm – 1.30pm.

More details on these sessions is forthcoming.

Feedback can be submitted online here.
