PHANZA Christmas Event: Auckland, 7 December 2022

At last, an Auckland PHANZA Christmas!

It’s been a couple of years now, but at last we can get together and celebrate our historical connections – with each other and with the ground with live and work on.

Lucy MacKintosh’s book Shifting grounds, deep histories of Tāmaki Makaurau has been widely lauded. Lucy has kindly agreed to take PHANZA members on a walking tour of one of the sites in her book – the Auckland Domain, for our Christmas event. If you’ve already read her book you will have lots of questions, if not you’ll probably race to the library or bookshop to get a copy afterwards. Her approach to the history is quite unique and thoroughly satisfying.

Meet:

on the front steps of the Auckland Museum
Wednesday 7th December
3.45pm for a 4pm start

Members will have a couple of hours to walk the Domain, before making their way to Archies restaurant in Newmarket for those who would like to get together for further discussion over dinner.

ALL Welcome!

PLEASE: RSVP to Sandra Gorter at treasurer@phanza.org.nz to let her know numbers to book for dinner

For those from out of town: let Sandra know if you would like to stay in Auckland for the night.
For those in Auckland who would like to host another historian for the night, likewise let Sandra know and she will do her best to pair you up.
