Open for applications: National Library Collaborative Newspaper Digitisation Programme

The National Library Collaborative Newspaper Digitisation Programme is now open for applications.

This year the National Library of New Zealand are calling for applications for smaller newspapers that you would like to see added to Papers Past. The number of pages needs to be between 3,000 – 20,000, and the newspaper must have already been microfilmed.

Costs will be split between the Library and the newspaper. This year the newspaper will need to cover 70% of the digitisation costs, and the Library will cover the remaining 30%. The National Library also covers 100% of the ongoing digital storage and website access costs.

You can find out more about the programme , and how to apply online at http://natlib.govt.nz/librarians/national-library-services/collaborative-digitisation.

For any questions, please email collaborative.digitisation@dia.govt.nz.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 31 March 2026.
