New Zealand Journal of Public History: New article by Jane Donald

We are thrilled to announce the publication of Jane Donald’s article ‘Local Body Politics: Timaru Borough Council and Caroline Bay’ in the New Zealand Journal of Public History.

Jane Donald recently completed a PhD from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.
Her thesis, ‘Shaping a Seaside Resort: The Development of Caroline Bay (Timaru) 1890–1939’,
examines the multi-faceted process by which Caroline Bay became a popular holiday destination.
It offers new insights into associational culture, women in business, railway publicity, and the
economic benefits of domestic tourism.
