National Library event (Wellington): ‘Great War Stories 4’, a Special Public Screening of the series presented by Anna Cottrell

Thursday 27 April, 12.10 – 1.00pm, Te Ahumairangi ground floor National library, corner Molesworth and Aitken Streets Thorndon, Wellington

Great War Stories 4 is a series of mini documentaries about individuals in WW1. With letters, diaries, photographs, archival film and family stories passed down, AC Productions has made a seven part series that screens first during the Anzac week on TV3’s Newshub.

The series, fronted by Mike McRoberts, will be compelling viewing.

Producer/director Anna Cottrell introduces this special screening. She says it is a privilege to shine a light on those who lived through the tragedy of WW1.

In this series most of those featured are not well known, but family members have approached Anna with their ancestors’ stories.

She is grateful for the wonderful archival collections in the Alexander Turnbull Library and Nga Taonga Sound & Vision, but has also been amazed by the treasure trove in boxes under beds and old suitcases in cupboards.
