Moira Smith

Wellington

I am an experienced heritage consultant with a practice that specialises in heritage identification, assessment, management, and policy advice.

With more than 25 years’ experience working with built heritage, both in architecture practice and local government, I am a registered architect with a postgraduate qualification in museum and heritage studies. I have extensive experience working as a heritage architect on conservation projects, and as a heritage advisor in local government in New Zealand.

My work includes providing advice and heritage input into District Plan reviews; researching and assessing the cultural heritage values of built-heritage places; through to undertaking research and providing assessments of environmental effects and conservation advice for works to individual buildings.

I am skilled in the sustainable management of heritage places, with expertise working within the RMA and the Building Act (including earthquake prone building legislation).
