Call for Papers: Celebration of the Life of Julius von Haast

The Celebration of the Life of Julius von Haast, to be held in Christchurch to mark the 200th anniversary of Haast’s birth, invites abstracts for papers and presentations.

The symposium will take place on the weekend of 30 April – 1 May 2022. There will be presentations on different aspects of Haast’s life and career as well as his longer-term impact on Canterbury Museum and in other spheres.

The symposium is organised by Canterbury Museum and interested researchers from other institutions. It will be live-streamed and recorded so that people from New Zealand and overseas can participate if they are unable to travel to Christchurch, or if the Covid-19 situation makes it necessary to have a completely online conference.

The deadline for submission of abstracts for presentations is 27 February 2022. The decision about whether a presentation will be included in the conference will be advised by 10 March 2022.
