Mikayla Journée‘s research on place-based art histories of Aotearoa explores themes of place, mapping, legacies of colonialism, intercultural collaboration, oral place histories, art activism and ethics of care. She is currently the University of Auckland’s History Innovation Fund Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2025) for research on the Kaipara-based photographic and archival collection of Harold Marsh (1876-1948). Claire Macindoe is a current postdoctoral fellow at the University of Otago, co-leading the Marsden Funded Kia Hauora Anō: Medical Aftercare of Māori Second World War Veterans project. She focuses on twentieth-century public health and medicine, and her PhD examined the use of radio to promote public health messages through the ‘Radio Doctor’ talks of Dr H. B. Turbott, 1943-1984.

This is a regular, online seminar. Each session (held via zoom) features 2 x 10–12-minute research presentations on current research in Gender History with a focus on Aotearoa New Zealand, followed by discussion.

Convenors: Charlotte Greenhalgh (charlotte.greenhalgh@waikato.ac.nz) and Charlotte Macdonald (charlotte.macdonald@vuw.ac.nz)
